Do good. Learn well.

Civic engagement takes many forms. Volunteerism, community involvement, service learning, internships with non-profit organizations, service work abroad, work on special projects, social activism and advocacy, voter registration, student government, off-campus government, membership in service-based student organizations--these are but a few broad categories of civic engagement opportunities that can enhance your educational experience.

To find out about civic engagement opportunities in the Cortland community, contact Ashley Aurilio, Civic Engagement Program Coordinator, (607) 753-4271, to schedule an appointment.

What is Civic Engagement?

Civic engagement means working to make a difference in the civic life of our communities and developing the combination of knowledge, skills, values, and motivation to make that difference. It means promoting the quality of life in a community, through both political and non-political processes (Ehrlich, 2000).
