Every year, the Psychology Department recognizes outstanding undergraduate students with the following awards. Students who think they are eligible for any of the following awards are encouraged to self-nominate him/herself for one or more.

*Note: Students must have a minimum 3.0 overall GPA to be eligible for any award

Instructions on how to self-nominate

  1. Fill out the PSY Department Award Nomination Form below by Friday Feb. 23, 2024, 4 p.m.
  2. Award recipients will be notified by March 15, 2024 and will be recognized at the SUNY Cortland Honors Convocation in April. 

Description of Awards

Junior Psychology Major Achievement Award

Presented to the junior psychology major who demonstrates excellence in the classroom and in extracurricular activities related to psychology.

Senior Psychology Major Achievement Award

Presented to the senior psychology major who demonstrates excellence in the classroom and in extracurricular activities related to psychology.

Non-traditional Student Major Achievement Award

Presented to the non-traditional senior psychology major who demonstrates excellence in the classroom and in extracurricular activities related to psychology.

The Psychology Research Award

Presented to the psychology major who demonstrates excellence in research.
