Qualifications
- Required
- Acceptance into SUNY Cortland graduate program in: Physical Education, Health, Communication Disorders, Early Childhood or related field.
- Desired
- Interest in working with children with Autism and Sensory Processing Disorders
- Interest in working with families of children with disabilities
- Advanced computer/web/social media skills
Relation to Educational Program
Students who receive the Shane's Inspiration Assistantship will benefit through experiences working with children who have sensory integration/sensory processing disorders as well as exposure to literature that contributes to their overall understanding of the sensory system.
Responsibilities
- Assist Director with lab scheduling, class visits, and parent/child visits
- Maintain lab space, equipment, and develop an electronic inventory.
- Develop sensory profile assessment folders for individual children under the direction and supervision of the Director.
- Conduct daily sessions during regularly scheduled open SIMS/MSE Lab hours
- Supervise field experience hours (e.g. PED 356/447) within the PE department
- Update and maintain content for SIMS/MSE pages within the PE department web site
- Share information about the SIMS/MSE on SUNY Cortland social media
Salary/Stipend
8,400.00 (6 credit hour tuition waiver)
Commitment 20 hours week
