Position
The Graduate Assistant position at the Lynne Parks ’68 SUNY Cortland Alumni House involves providing support in event planning, execution, social media, website management, and the overall operation of the facility. This role reports directly to the Associate Director of Campus Event Management, who also functions as the General Manager of the Parks Alumni House.
Qualifications
- Required
- Acceptance into any SUNY Cortland graduate program
- Completed Application must include two letters of recommendation, with at least one letter originating from an individual acquainted with the applicant’s capacity to engage in graduate-level work.
- Desired
- Previous Hospitality experience.
- Previous experience in customer service within a fast-paced environment.
- Experienced in interacting with the public
- Experience with Social media and website editing and designing
- Available for nights and weekends.
Relation to Educational Program
This student will participate in a hands-on learning experience at a small business, where they will develop the skills to coordinate and manage events while mastering the art of marketing an event center.
Responsibilities
Assist with events at the Parks Alumni House, including but not limited to setup, teardown, and providing assistance during the event. Responsibilities also include guest service, ensuring guests have what they need, helping with the Parks Alumni House inventory system, creating and posting content on social media, collaborating with the Associate director to develop new marketing ideas for the house, and attending weekly house meetings.
Salary/Stipend
$3500 per semester for 20 hours/week obligation
Tuition Support
Six credits of graduate tuition support per semester.
