Graduate Center Moves to Mohawk Valley Community College

SUNY Cortland’s Mohawk Valley Graduate Center will move across the New York State Thruway to Mohawk Valley Community College this fall, in an effort to provide more teacher education resources for students.

The center enrolls about 150 graduate students from the Mohawk Valley area each year in master's or certificate programs in literacy education and educational leadership. The programs, aimed at new graduates with teaching degrees and working teachers interested in career advancement, most recently have been offered at the SUNY IT campus in Utica, N.Y.

The College decided to move the center a few miles south to Mohawk Valley Community College’s Utica campus, to take advantage of the staff and other support facilities offered by the community college’s teacher education programs. SUNY IT does not have a teacher education program.

Cortland’s graduate center serves people seeking post-graduate teaching degrees who live and work in the large area between Syracuse and Albany.
