Cinema Study


The interdisciplinary minor in cinema study is designed for those who are studying film criticism, history and appreciation rather than as a trade to be learned. Courses are taught by members of the Art and Art History, Communication Studies, English, Geography, Modern Languages, History, Performing Arts, Philosophy, Political Science and Psychology departments. The minor is coordinated through the Communication Studies Department.

Minor Requirements

At least 18 hours in cinema study courses including:

  • CIN 101 - History of the Cinema I: The Silent Era (3 cr. hr.)
  • CIN 102 - History of the Cinema II: The Sound Era (3 cr. hr.)
