M.S.T. in Childhood Education (Grades 1-6) (Online)

Fully Online Coursework

SUNY Cortland’s highly marketable M.S.T. in childhood education now features fully online coursework and it can be completed in just one year of accelerated full-time study.

This program is intended for students with a bachelor’s degree in a discipline outside of education and it leads to teacher certification in grades 1 through 6.

Fully accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP), the program includes two in-person components:

  • 175 hours of school-based field experiences in school districts near graduate students

  • Two quarters of full-time student teaching in school districts near graduate students

Please note that applicants no longer are required to submit scores for entrance exams such as the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) or Miller Analogies Test (MAT).

This program currently follows a summer start date for full-time students as well as fall and spring semester start date options.

Suggested application deadlines

  • April 1 for full-time students starting in summer

  • July 1 for fall start option

  • Dec. 1 for spring start option
