For more than 150 years, SUNY Cortland has set the bar in teacher education. The university’s new online master’s program in adolescence science education offers further proof.

Is this program right for you?

  • No prior experience is needed. Our MST program is ideal for aspiring teachers and career changers with an undergraduate science degree in either biology, chemistry, geology or physics.
  • Flexible and manageable. The 40-credit program is offered fully online with synchronous meetings at convenient times.
  • Research-based strategies. Effective and research-based practices provide learning experiences grounded in culturally relevant pedagogy, inquiry-based teaching, and Next Generation Science Standards (NGSS), including Science and Engineering Practices (SEPs).
  • Practical experience in classrooms. Throughout the program, there are several opportunities to observe in classrooms, and it culminates in a student teaching experience within a district in New York State.
  • Teacher certification. Upon completion of the MST program, students will be certified New York State teachers.
