The M.A. in English at SUNY Cortland fosters critical enquiry into the history and workings of English languages and literatures. Reading the world as text, you will enhance your intellectual and cultural fluency and critical engagement with the world. In small classes and lively seminar discussions, you’ll examine topics in American, British and global literatures and literary criticism.
The M.A.T. in Adolescence English Education at SUNY Cortland leads to initial New York State certification in English Language Arts 7-12. Through your graduate seminars and field experiences in middle schools and high schools, you will develop a wide range of teaching strategies that draw on current theories, research, and practices in English language arts.
