The Campaign for Cortland

All In: Building on Success

The goal of The Campaign for Cortland is to raise $25 million to support five key institutional goals that will enhance student access to a transformational education, cultivate opportunities for our faculty and elevate the College’s national profile.

SUNY Cortland celebrated 150 years of excellence during the 2018-19 academic year and has become a model institution in the 64-campus SUNY system. A tradition of nationally recognized academic programs, innovative faculty and the rich intellectual, social and athletic lives of our students will draw gifted and diverse individuals to SUNY Cortland for years to come.

A record 13,285 prospective students applied for Fall 2018 enrollment. Among SUNY’s comprehensive colleges, Cortland boasts the strongest enrollment rates and it has the third-highest graduation rate among all SUNY colleges.

State-supported capital projects have transformed the campus landscape, adding to all aspects of the student experience. The renovation and expansion of Bowers Hall has added a state-of-the-art science complex and an 8-meter diameter planetarium. Dragon Hall was the first college housing structure in the state to receive the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification at the platinum level. The 148,000-square foot Student Life Center has served our student’s commitment to physical fitness and has become a social hub.

The College has been highlighted by major publications for both the quality of its academic programs and the affordability of a SUNY Cortland education. The Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education rankings listed SUNY Cortland among the top colleges in the nation in both 2018 and 2019, making it one of two SUNY comprehensives to make the cut, citing its successful student outcomes and engagement. Money magazine has placed the College in the top 5% of all four-year colleges as a “Best College for Your Money” for two consecutive years.

SUNY Cortland is committed to the next generation of student and faculty excellence through five institutional priorities:

The Campaign for Cortland will use these five priorities as the guiding principles that, combined with the energy and talent of the campus community, will help the institution accomplish its vision. As we embark on the next chapter in our history, we ask for your support in helping us reach this goal.
