Naming Opportunities

Our Naming Program

SUNY Cortland is pleased to offer the first SUNY Board of Trustees-approved naming program. Alumni and friends can now permanently demonstrate support for the College by participating in its exciting naming program.

The program offers donors the opportunity to attach a name to a designated facility or space, or to a non-physical asset, such as a school, department, faculty position or scholarship.

For additional information, please call the Institutional Advancement Office at 607-753-2518 or email us.

In most cases, gifts may be made over a five-year period. All combinations of gifts, pledges and irrevocable deferred gift arrangements are acceptable forms of philanthropy to support naming commitments. However, deferred gifts supporting an immediate naming opportunity will require a higher dollar figure because of the delay in the College receiving the gift.

Typically, the naming of physical/non-physical assets will be recognized with the installation of a cast bronze plaque. Other forms of recognition, based on the gift amount, also will be offered to donors.

Example of a recognition plaque with gold colored text on a bronze colored background: Dorothea Kreig Allen Fowler '52, M '74
