Communications Office staff receive SUNYCUAD Awards for Excellence

SUNY Cortland's Communications Office staff members received four awards at the SUNY Council for University Advancement (SUNYCUAD) Awards for Excellence, presented during the 2023 conference held June 7 to 9 in Syracuse, N.Y.: 

  • A Best of Category award in the Excellence in Strategy/DEI Initiatives for Campus Community grouping for the Black Lives Matter Mural in Moffett Center Project. The office produced and edited a series of articles that promoted the mural project, which had involved the entire campus community in planning, soliciting and creating four student-designed posters along four different diversity related themes; professionally preparing and mounting them side-by-side in the newly renovated Moffett Center atrium; and celebrating all participants in the project and competition during separate events in the atrium and Old Main.
  • A Judges’ Citation award in the Excellence in Writing/Feature Writing category for the article appearing in the Summer 2022 edition of Columns, “Masters of the game,” written by Frederic Pierce.
  • A Judges’ Citation award in the Excellence in Writing/News Writing category for the university news article “SUNY Cortland deploys a new type of energy hog,” written by Brian Bosch.
  • A Judges’ Citation award in the Excellence in Writing/News Writing category for the university news article “Students put anthropology into action,” written by Jennifer Wilson.
