SUNY Cortland's Communications Office staff members received four awards at the SUNY Council for University Advancement (SUNYCUAD) Awards for Excellence, presented during the 2023 conference held June 7 to 9 in Syracuse, N.Y.:
- A Best of Category award in the Excellence in Strategy/DEI Initiatives for Campus Community grouping for the Black Lives Matter Mural in Moffett Center Project. The office produced and edited a series of articles that promoted the mural project, which had involved the entire campus community in planning, soliciting and creating four student-designed posters along four different diversity related themes; professionally preparing and mounting them side-by-side in the newly renovated Moffett Center atrium; and celebrating all participants in the project and competition during separate events in the atrium and Old Main.
- A Judges’ Citation award in the Excellence in Writing/Feature Writing category for the article appearing in the Summer 2022 edition of Columns, “Masters of the game,” written by Frederic Pierce.
- A Judges’ Citation award in the Excellence in Writing/News Writing category for the university news article “SUNY Cortland deploys a new type of energy hog,” written by Brian Bosch.
- A Judges’ Citation award in the Excellence in Writing/News Writing category for the university news article “Students put anthropology into action,” written by Jennifer Wilson.
