Mohawk Valley Graduate Site

Mohawk Valley Graduate Site Update
April 2019

SUNY Cortland will no longer operate an official graduate site in the Mohawk Valley, effective July 31, 2019, when its current lease at Mohawk Valley Community College (MVCC) expires.

As it has for nearly 50 years, the College will continue to educate graduate students from the region in various ways. Class meetings for students in the educational leadership (EDL) program will be held at school district and BOCES sites in the Mohawk Valley region. Additionally, all matriculated students in the literacy program will be supported to complete their master’s degree through distance learning tools such as Skype.

The College’s EDL program has established a successful hybrid format over the past three years that relies on five class meetings in the Mohawk Valley per semester and an online classroom. This program has proven popular among full-time teachers interested in becoming school district leaders, and the College plans to build on this model.

Over the next several years, SUNY Cortland will reimagine several of its education-related graduate programs, including literacy, for exclusively online delivery — ensuring that the College’s high-quality preparation in teacher education will reach students in the Mohawk Valley and beyond.
