Spend the months of July and August in Spain and enjoy being a student, tutor, and camp counselor! In this unique program, you may choose from two options:
Option 1: During the month of July, you will enroll in the University of Salamanca Cursos Internacionales program and take one 3 credit course in Spanish (all language levels available). After you take your course in the morning of each weekday, you will have a break for lunch and then you will spend a portion of the weekday afternoons tutoring a University of Salamanca student in English. You will keep a journal on this fantastic cross-cultural experience. During this month, you will live with a host family (meals and laundry included) within walking distance of the University of Salamanca.
During the month of August, you will intern and live full-time as a camp counselor at a traditional summer camp managed by University of Salamanca's Cursos Internacionales program in Pendueles, Asturias, Spain. This camp is for children ranging in age from 11-12 years who wish to learn English while having a blast in the summer with you and the other campers! You will help with all aspects of the camp including arts, crafts, music, and athletics, as well as overseeing the needs of your campers from the role of a camp counselor. This internship is unpaid and you will live full-time at the camp. All meals and lodging at the camp are free of charge. You will be supervised by the Camp Director and are required to keep a journal (in Spanish, if possible) recording your experiences at the camp. With successful completion of the camp and the journal, you will earn 3 credits for this portion of the program.
Option 2: Option 2 is the inverse of Option 1. Instead of going to the University of Salamanca first, you will go to the camp for the month of July and work with children between the ages of 8-10 years. You will then spend the month of August in Salamanca taking a Spanish course and tutoring a peer in English.
Note: All other details listed above in Option 1 remain the same for Option 2 with the exception of the age of the campers.
