Summer School in the English Lake District
Located in the heart of the Lake District National Park, the University of Cumbria in Ambleside offers a quality summer program in an idyllic setting on the shores of Lake Windermere. The Ambleside campus is the former location of Charlotte Mason’s world-renowned teacher training centre, founded in 1891, it is located in the landscape that has inspired the writers and poets Beatrix Potter, John Ruskin, William Wordsworth and Samuel Taylor Coleridge. We have excellent facilities and an experienced teaching team who are passionate about their subjects. The Lake District is a perfect summer school location.
A series of location-relevant guest lectures will be included in the program. These will give you the opportunity to learn about something new which may or may not be related to your chosen subject option. Possible subject areas may include: Mountain rescue, William Wordsworth, Beatrix Potter, Cultural landscapes.

2.5 GPA, Must be second semester sophomore or higher

|Program Course Information||
The University of Cumbria's Lakeland Summer School is a 3 week- 3 credit program which includes guest lectures and excursions to some of the Britain's best-loved tourist destinations. You will visit local sites of interest in and around the Lake District as well as visiting Chester, Edinburgh, and a weekend visit to London!
Course Options: English Literature in the Lake District, Transatlantic Politics, Outdoor Education, History: Roman Britain
Ambleside is a small town in North-west England, as a popular tourist destination it is bustling with people of all ages. What makes Ambleside a great place to stay is that it's in the heart of the Lake District, which means you will have some of the gorgeous wonders of nature on your doorstep. If your idea of a good time is watching the sunset over a lake, feeling the spray of a 70-foot waterfall on your face or riding a mountain bike down something tall and craggy, then Ambleside is the place to be.
|Accommodation||You will stay in student accommodation in Ambleside, on a self-catering basis. The halls are located a short walk from the campus close to the town centre. You will have your own study bedroom, shower-rooms and kitchen facilities will be on a shared basis.|
