Taheerah Usher

Taheerah Usher is a senior from Belize City, Belize, studying Sociology. She is a president’s list student, planning to further her education in the United States. She intends to obtain her PHD in Anthropology in hope of returning home to do extensive research on social issues in Belize.

She participated in the Judson H. Taylor Leadership House program 2012-2013, where she acquired great knowledge and experience from leadership retreats, conventions and classes. As a requirement for the program, Taheerah had to enroll in a course of Philanthropy and Civic Engagement (POL 129) here at SUNY Cortland. Along with other students, she had the privilege of giving out $10,000 to several non-profit organizations in Cortland. She is currently a Student Director in Corey Union, a member of Tau Sigma (the National Honor Society for Transfer Students) and Alpha Kappa Delta ( the International Sociology Honor Society).
