Anna Szostek

Anna, a sophomore from Brooklyn, New York, is the Student Government Association Secretary for the 2014-2015 school year. Anna is a dean's list Biomedical Science Major, where upon graduating Cortland, she aspires to go to Medical School in hopes of becoming an Anesthesiologist. Anna became involved in SGA within the first two months of her freshman year, as she quickly fulfilled the role of a Senator. Not only did she attend Senate meetings every Tuesday, she spent a lot of time meeting with other Senators, in determining what clubs should be approved on campus. Additionally of being a Senator, Anna quickly found a passion for being involved, and she was interviewed and got elected for the position of Secretary at the end of her freshman year. During this time, Anna decided to also become a part of the Alpha Phi Sisterhood, the Biomedical Science Club, and she served as an Undergraduate Representative on the Academic Grievance Tribunal, where she upheld high intellectual and ethical standards in evaluating a violation of academic integrity, as an instance of academic dishonesty. Being apart of all these organizations, Anna had the opportunity to watch herself, her peers, and the students of Cortland grow as individuals and become leaders.  SGA set out a road of many new opportunities for Anna, where she has been able to meet many new people and learn skills that she will take on for the rest of her life. Anna plans to continue getting involved and being the voice of the student body for the next upcoming years here at SUNY Cortland, and cannot wait to see what the future holds for her.
