Black Student Union (BSU) - SUNY Cortland

Black Student Union (BSU)

BSU focuses on inclusion of all races, genders, sexualities, and more importantly bringing awareness to current and positive events happening in society particularly as they relate to the black community. Our goal is to empower our students with new knowledge, mindsets, and perspective on culture and life while still providing a safe place where students can enjoy hanging out and getting to know others like themselves. In this organization we want to foster a fun and safe environment that engages our students in discussion on issues affecting us and our surrounding communities. We hope to educate our members then challenge them to take action both internally and externally. We host meetings and events for purpose of improving the campus environment, encouraging involvement of minority students in all campus activities, discouraging and abating institutional and individual acts and symbols of racism, and promoting awareness and friendship between races.
