We're not geeks, we just hang out with them!
We are an active club. Among other things, we take trips, have study parties and movie nights (with lots of good food), and host planetarium shows. Recently, we have taken trips to Maple Ridge Wind Farm, Lackawanna Coal Mine, and Ithaca Science Center. We also offer free tutoring services every semester in an effort to give back to the campus community.
One of our favorite things about physics is validating/fine-tuning other scientists' work once in a while. For example, last spring we found that adding not only Mentos to Diet Coke, but also a little potential energy leads to an impressively high-flying, foaming 2-L bottle! This year we hope to see if it is possible to beat the speed of light; we will be using a friendly game of laser tag to find out!
We always welcome new members and ideas so please visit us in Bowers 121, our club office!
