Geology club is a professional and service club that provides a place for SUNY Cortland students to further their interest in geology. Students have the opportunity to network with other geologists and explore the field of geology outside the classroom.
The club does at least one community service event each semester. For example, the geology club has participated in the Cortland River clean up in the Tioughnioga River, the Trail Works day at Lime Hollow and the Big Event hosted by SUNY Cortland. Geology club also holds lectures from guess speakers to talk about the geology around the world. We also attend the Geological Society of America conference. At this conference geology club members can present their research. Members can also talk to other geologists and network for a potential career.
All science majors would be interested in our club. However the geology club is open to all majors. Students should join if they enjoy geology or exploring local nature area including doing cleanup community service. To participate in the club events a student need to show up to at least two meetings a month.
