The School of Education Dean's Office is administratively responsible for four academic departments and several service units. The academic departments are Childhood/Early Childhood Education, Educational Leadership, Foundations and Social Advocacy, and Literacy.
The academic departments offer undergraduate programs in Childhood Education (1-6), Early Childhood Education (Birth-2), Early Childhood/Childhood Education (Birth-6), and Special Education/Childhood Education (1-6). Graduate programs are available in Childhood Education, Educational Administration, Teaching Students with Disabilities, and Literacy Education. In addition, there is a provisional (initial) certification in Childhood Education available at the graduate level.
The service units are Access to College Education, Center for the Fourth and Fifth R's, Cortland's Urban Recruitment of Educators (C.U.R.E.) Program, Field Experience and School Partnerships Office, Institute for Disability Studies, Liberty Partnerships Program, Migrant Education Education Tutorial and Support Services Program (METS), and NCATE Office.
