If you have lost an item you may check with the Lost and Found Department by calling (607) 753-2112 or email lost.andfound@cortland.edu The Lost and Found Department is located within the University Police Station, C-17 VanHoesen Hall and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We make every effort to identify the owner of found property and to see that the property is returned. Items not claimed will be donated to a local charity or destroyed.
Found property will be held as follows:
- Valued at $100 or less- Three months
- Valued at more than $100 but less than $500- Six months
- Valued more than $500 but less than $5000- One year
- Valued over $5000- Three years
Pursuant to New York State Personal Property Law employees of the State or a public corporation may not assert a claim to found property.
