How much does it cost?

The Leadership House provides residents with a designed-single room at the charge of $3,500 per semester for the 2011-2012 academic year. Students in the Leadership House have the option of selecting the commuter meal plan or a resident meal plan. The Leadership House is equipped with a full kitchen and members may opt to not participate in the campus meal plan.

Can we have guests in the Leadership House?

Leadership House students are held to the same community standards expectations as residents in the residence halls. Please refer to the student handbook for guidelines.

What events can we host in the Leadership House?

The house is to be used in conjunction with the organization’s goals and objectives. Any event in which more than ten (10) persons will be visiting the house must be approved by the Residence Life and Housing staff member who oversees the Leadership House at least 48 hours prior to the event.

Who supervises the house?

Residence Life and Housing works in conjunction with the Institute for Civic Engagement to provide advisement and direction for the house. A Residence Life and Housing staff member will be assigned oversight of the Leadership House for areas such as Physical Plant needs and authority over any behavioral issues unresolved by the residents. The Residence Life and Housing staff coordinator and the Leadership House team will confer whenever disruptive behavioral or unmet program requirements cause consideration for loss of the privilege of house residency.

As accomplished leaders, students will be expected to self-regulate the day to day operations of the house. Everything from agreement about parking space use to the cleanliness of the house will be included in a housemate contract the residents will co-create, agree upon, and sign. Residents will always be accountable to the Code of Conduct first and foremost for their behavior as on-campus residents. Whenever a house resident leaves the house prior to the academic year commitment, a pro-rated stipend will be determined and adjusted after review by Residence Life and Housing.

What happens after I apply?

After you have submitted your application, before March 4, 2011 at 4:00 pm, you will be notified by the Leadership House team of whether you have been accepted as a member of the program for the 2011-2012 academic year by March 21, 2011. If you are offered a spot in the Leadership House, you will be required to attend a brief orientation before the end of the spring 2011 semester.
