Your Stories

Living in the residence hall is part of the college experience. We want your help to give a glimpse of what life is like living in the Residence Halls or at West Campus Apartments. Your story could have a lasting impact on prospective students thinking about attending SUNY Cortland.

How did you feel when you first moved in? What is your favorite part about living in the residence hall? Has the staff had a positive impact on you? What do you wish you knew coming in? What will help prospective students that are looking at SUNY Cortland? We want to know! You tell us! Please e-mail the completed Your Stories Form to sarah.unruh@cortland.edu.

Your Community

The residence hall is a community and you are a member of that community. As a staff, we believe a residence hall is more than a place for a break from classes. It is a vibrant and active community, the center for student life. We encourage you to develop an awareness of the many opportunities that this presents daily, and challenges you to utilize this setting to increase your leadership abilities.

We feel that it is very important to ensure that the rights of each individual are respected. We urge you to act responsibly toward the rest of your community and yourself as well. Therefore, it is important that your actions contribute to the development of a strong, balanced community within the residence hall.

If you have specific questions that are not answered on the website, please e-mail us at ResidenceLifeandHousing@cortland.edu, call us at (607) 753-4724, or stop in and visit us in Van Hoesen Hall, Room B-33. We look forward to answering your questions.
