OP Community Bike Program

Yellow Bike Checkout

  • Bikes are free to check out during select periods during the fall & spring semesters
  • Checkout period is for one week at a time
  • Patrons cannot re-check out the same bike the same day
  • Late fees will be assessed for failure to check in bikes on time
  • Each bike comes with a lock and key and must be locked up to a bike rack on campus when not in use
  • All routine maintenance needed is free, but obvious abuse repairs will be charged appropriately  

Red/Blue Bike Rental

  • Rental fees are $45 
  • Bikes are rented for the semester (including the summer)
  • Each bike rental comes with a lock and key and must be locked up to a bike rack on campus when not in use

Charges

  • The renter is solely responsible for the use and direct control of the bike and its parts, complying with all New York State, County and City bike laws and SUNY Cortland Outdoor Pursuits bike policies.  The Cortland City Bike Code can be viewed by clicking here for Cortland City Bike Code
  • If yellow bikes are lost or stolen, patrons will be charged $50 to replace them
  • If red/blue bikes are lost or stolen, patrons will be charged $100 to replace them
  • Replacement charges for lost locks or keys are $15
  • Replacement charges for a cut lock due to locking a bike to something other than a bike rack is $30
  • Obvious abuse repairs will be accessed and charged appropriately
  • Any charges may be paid by connections, check or cash

Repairs for Personal Bikes

  • The center will help assist with repair of personal bikes for SUNY Cortland students, faculty/staff and all other SLC members, with valid ID cards, for no charge as long as no parts are needed for repair
  • Please see OP's Bike Graduate Assistant, Mary McNally for available times
  • If parts are needed, patrons are responsible for those costs
  • OP does not store personal bikes in the center
