Louise Mahar is beginning her 20th year as the Assistant Director of Recreational Sports for Fitness at SUNY Cortland. Prior to that, Louise was the Recreation and Fitness Director at Johnson State College in Johnson, Vermont. She earned a BS Degree in Health Science at Johnson State College and an MS Degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Louise is an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist, and an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Louise teaches Field Experience classes in Fitness through the Kinesiology Department. She has also been teaching Yoga at the college for 10 years and is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200).
Louise is originally from Bradford, Vermont and currently resides in Cortland with her husband Buddy, and their two sons, P.J. (age 23) and Eamonn (age 22) who both recently graduated from SUNY Cortland. When she is not working, Louise enjoys her two dogs; Wilbur & Fred, running, Yoga, weight training, photography, and gardening. She also enjoys photography.
