Louise Mahar is beginning her nineteenth year as Assistant Director of Recreational Sports for Fitness at SUNY Cortland. Prior to that, Louise was the Recreation and Fitness Director at Johnson State College in Johnson, Vermont. She earned a BS Degree in Health Science at Johnson State College and an MS Degree in Exercise Physiology from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Louise is an ACSM Certified Exercise Physiologist, and an NSCA Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Louise teaches Field Experience classes in Fitness through the Kinesiology Department. She has also been teaching Yoga at the college for 8 years and is a Registered Yoga Teacher (RYT-200).
Louise is originally from Bradford, Vermont and currently resides in Cortland with her husband Buddy, and their two sons, P.J. (age 21) and Eamonn (age 20) who are both SUNY Cortland students. When she is not working, Louise enjoys her two dogs; Wilbur & Fred, running, weight training, yoga and gardening. She also enjoys photography.
