Michael Sawyer

At birth, Michael was perfectly healthy; however his twin sister was not. Michael’s sister was born both physically and mentally handicapped. While he was able to enjoy all the things most take for granted; higher brain function, mobility, and communication, she could not. Powerless to give anything but love to his sister has provided the valuable lesson to take advantage of all that we can accomplish in terms of improved health. Michael’s training philosophy is geared toward providing clients the foundation for an opportunity at a longer, healthier, active life. He hopes to dispel the mainstream exercise myths, while educating each client on proper exercise and how to achieve their personal fitness goals. With the conclusion of his undergraduate work, Michael wishes to pursue the Tactical Strength and Conditioning Facilitator certification through the NSCA. With this, Michael wishes to train the military, police, and firefighter personnel on active duty. Michael believes the campus is filled with people wishing to pursue and maintain a healthy and fit lifestyle.  He is proud to work alongside such a knowledgeable and sincere group of personal trainers here at SUNY Cortland. He provides the promise that no client will regret joining the SUNY Cortland personal training program!
