In 2004, and in conjunction with the acquisition of the Alumni House, the SUNY Cortland Alumni Association, Inc. established a plan to create a permanent endowment to support the general operation and maintenance of the House. This important effort was started with the popular Opportunities to Give Program, which afforded alumni, friends and organization numerous naming opportunities inside and outside the House. A goal of $500,000 was established for this project. We are very pleased to share that this goal has been achieved. If you are interested to reviewing what naming opportunities remain, please go to Naming Opportunities.
In 2008 the second component of the Preservation Fund Plan was achieved with the donation of $1,000,000 from Lynne Parks Hoffman ’68. In recognition of this wonderful gift (the college’s first million dollar donor), the house was named The Lynne Parks ’68 SUNY Cortland Alumni House.
The third component of this plan was the creation of the Alumni House Trustee Program which would offer permanent recognition for ten individuals and or organizations who donated $100,000. Trustees will have their portraits displayed on the Trustee Wall in the Goodale Library. In addition, biographies of each will appear in a special Trustee Book to also be on display in the library. To date three alumni have generously supported this program.
With this success, $1,700,000 has been raised for the Alumni House Preservation Fund. Successful completion of the Trustee Program will create an Alumni House Preservation Fund of $2.4 million.
