100-Year Celebration

It's time to celebrate. The Lynne Parks ’68 SUNY Cortland Alumni House is turning 100!

The purpose of this page is to keep our followers informed about the events that will be occurring at the Parks Alumni House during the year-long celebration. In addition, pictures will be posted from the various events that have been scheduled to our Facebook page.

Attention Alumni: Starting July 1, 2012 to June 30, 2013, alumni that wish to lodge at the Parks Alumni House between Sunday and Thursday will have their choice of any room that features a private bath for only $100 plus tax per night.  

House History
This magnificent house was acquired on July 1, 2004 from Charles Gibson by the Alumni Association. Mr. Gibson purchased the house in 1992 from Jean Miller Biddle, the granddaughter of Charles Wichwire, Sr. who built the House in 1912. The Wickwire family owned and operated Wickwire Brothers, Inc. on South Main Street in Cortland, a wire drawing mill, steel plant, and blooming mill.

The Parks Alumni House serves as the focal point for the College's alumni program. It also helps to meet the College's varied needs, from housing dignitaries to hosting special events for students. Alumni and the public may use the house for lodging, special events, business meeting and training, weddings and more. On July 1, 2008 the House was name in honor of Nu Sigma Chi sister Lynne Parks '68 for her vision and generosity. 

100-Year Anniversary Schedule

New York Jets Reception - August 2012
Invitation Only. Name-A-Room/Individual Garden donors will be invited to a reception hosted at the Parks Alumni House during the New York Jets training camp. Date and time is to be determined. 

Homecoming Brunch - September 15, 2012
Invitation Only. Charter Patron donors will be invited to a brunch hosted at the Parks Alumni House before the Red Dragons varsity football game at 1 p.m. Start time has yet to be determined. 

Holiday Open House - December 9, 2012
The annual holiday Open House will be held on Sunday, December 9, 2012, from 1-4 p.m. All are welcome to take a step back in time and tour the house while its "decked" for the holidays. Light refreshments will be served. Entertainment will be provided and appearances from special guests are scheduled.

100-Year Anniversary Fund - April 13, 2013
Invitation Only. Donors to the 100-Year Anniversary Parks Alumni House fund will be invited to campus to attend the theatre performance, "Once Upon a mattress," and a pre-theatre reception at the Parks Alumni House. The reception is from 6-7:30 p.m. at 29 Tompkins st. The theatre performance is scheduled for 8 p.m. in Old Main Brown Auditorium.  

Alumni Reunion 2013 - July 13, 2013
All affinity groups that have donated to the Alumni House since 2004 will have a special reception at the Alumni Reunion 2013. This will take place during the annual "All-Greek Reception" that occurs on Saturday.

Campaign Celebration - September 6 or 7, 2013 
Invitation Only. At the conclusion of the current Capital Campaign, a celebration is planned at the Parks Alumni House. Guests will be recognized for their generous contributions to the $25 million goal and the Alumni Association will cap-off its year-long celebration of the 100-year anniversary of the House.
