The Instructor-Assistant Dynamic

Each set of instructor/assistants will create their own experience. Each assistant will bring a different set of konwledge and skills to the COR experience. Some tips on building this dynamic to maximize the experience for all involved:

  • Talk about your expectations
  • Indentify with your TA their strengths and weaknesses
  • Set goals
  • Touch base on your roles as the semester progresses to assess your teamwork and make adjustments
  • Let them have a clear voice in class: they have a credibility with the students
  • Understand that students will often feel more comfortable with your assistant and support your student as they become a peer mentor
  • Check in on your assistant's progress
