Offices and resources for students will continue despite distance

Offices and resources for students will continue despite distance

03/27/2020

Dear Students,
As we prepare to finalize our transition to distance education and remote learning, we wish to share important information about some of the many offices and resources that will continue to offer vital assistance and support even though you are finishing your semester off campus. We know this situation may feel overwhelming and stressful, so we have gathered the information below to assist you in contacting and connecting with people and resources that might be helpful.

This information was compiled by the Division of Student Affairs, in partnership with the Division of Academic Affairs, the Information Resources Office and the Title IX Office.

Please reach out, stay engaged, remain connected and let us continue to support you. We may be physically distant right now, but we are ALL united as Red Dragons.

Be well,

Greg Sharer

Vice President for Student Affairs

Advisement and Transition

To schedule an appointment, please email us. If you have outstanding sanctions, someone will be in touch with you shortly to discuss due dates and any modifications needed.

Student Health Services

Student Health Services remains open and committed to meeting the health care needs of our students during these most unusual times.  As an essential service, we are staffing our office in accordance with recommended precautions aimed at mitigating COVID-19 transmission while assuring our ability to meet the needs of our student population, wherever they may be. Although the format and the manner in which we provide medical services may be different during the current circumstances, we are still here to serve you. If you have a medical concern, please call Student Health Services at 607-753-4811. A nurse will speak to you and offer one of the following:

  • For minor problems or concerns like colds or minor wounds, a nurse will provide advice for self-care measures.
  • For certain problems, like medicines for a urinary tract infection or for a medication refill, a phone consult with a physician or nurse practitioner will be offered. We can electronically prescribe to your home pharmacy.
  • For our students in Cortland, a traditional in-office medical appointment in Student Health Services may be needed and available.
  • For students with more serious concerns, advice about the best setting and manner in which to obtain medical care will be provided.

Currently, our lab does not perform COVID-19 testing. If you have a concern about COVID-19, Cortland County Health Department recommends residents contact Upstate University Hospital’s COVID-19 triage at 315-464-3979. A staff member will tell you if and how you should be tested. That service  will be available from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m.
