SUNY Cortland Women’s Faculty Caucus to Hold Gender Forum II

SUNY Cortland will present its Gender Forum II, titled “The Chilly Climate: Doing Gender on Campus,” on Thursday, Oct. 8, in Brockway Hall Jacobus Lounge.

Moderated by Kathryn Russell, chair of the Philosophy Department, the program will take place from 4:15-6:15 p.m. Co-sponsored by the Women’s Faculty Caucus and the Center for Gender and Intercultural Studies, the presentations and subsequent one-hour discussion are open to the public.

Anne Vittoria, associate professor of sociology/anthropology, will offer opening remarks. Two associate professors, Jamie Dangler of the Sociology/Anthropology Department and Kathleen Burke of the Economics Department, will present their recently completed research, titled “UUP Research Report: Members’ Experiences and Perceptions Regarding Gender and Work Culture.”

Subsequently, Wendy McAllister, the College’s affirmative action officer and senior human resources associate, and Virginia Levine, executive assistant to the president, will discuss “SUNY Cortland’s Gender Climate Survey 2006: Results and Recommendations.” Visit the Web site http://cortland.edu/president/campusclimate_women.pdf to view the report.
