On April 20, 2009, the New York Jets of the National Football League (NFL) signed an agreement with SUNY Cortland that brought the team's 2009 summer training camp to the central New York campus.
More than 34,000 spectators came to the magnificent SUNY Cortland Stadium Complex between July 31 and August 20 for an up-close view of the Jets players and coaches as they prepared for the 2009 season. The visitors also enjoyed interactive Generation Jets Fest activities, shopped at the Jets Store, and collected player autographs. The training camp generated $4.26 million in economic activity in Cortland County.

The successful 2009 New York Jets summer training camp came to a close on Aug. 21.
SUNY Cortland thanks the New York Jets, the Cortland community, the volunteers and the fans who contributed to making this year's camp an enjoyable experience for all who attended.
"It's a great place to have camp. I can't thank the people of Cortland enough for how courteous and how supportive they've been of our football team coming here, and the facilities have been top-notch...I've been really impressed."
