Tickets

To be eligible for Commencement tickets, students should first apply to graduate using myRedDragon by March 31.

Once at myRedDragon, do the following:

  1. Type in ID and password
  2. Select “Student Online Tab” and go to the Registrar Student Channel area
  3. Select “Graduation and Commencement Menu”
  4. Select “Degree and Diploma Application”
  5. Print verification (students only need to print the verification if they have missed the March 31 deadline)

Students will receive four (4) guest tickets and one (1) student line-up ticket for either the 9:30 a.m. or 2:30 p.m. ceremony. The first opportunity for students to receive their tickets and select the ceremony of their choice is at "Grad Finale" on Tuesday, April 13. Students who are unable to attend Grad Finale may obtain tickets at the College Store during regular business hours.

If a student has not applied for a degree, he or she may still attend Grad Finale and apply to graduate there, though there is no guarantee that the student's name will appear in the program.

Student Line-Up Ticket

The student line up ticket allows entry into the Corey Gymnasium, located in the Park Center. Once inside the Corey Gymnasium, the ticket permits students access to the check-in area, which is set up alphabetically by last name. The student lineup ticket will be the top ticket in the bundle. Please do not dispose of this ticket.

Each student will receive a 3" x 5" card with his/her first and last name. After receiving the name card, students will choose a row to line up in the Corey Gymnasium (students can choose row 1-8 and may line up with friends). Students remain in these rows as they process into the Park Center Alumni Arena for the ceremony.

Guest Tickets

The seating at Alumni Arena is limited, and the College cannot risk having more people in the arena than is allowed by fire and safety codes. SUNY Cortland does all it can to accommodate students so they can bring as many guests as possible - we have two ceremonies for that reason.  In addition, we consistently allow more guest tickets than other SUNY schools.

Tickets are not required for children age 2 and below.

Obtaining Extra Tickets

To obtain additional tickets, students can utilize any of the options listed below:

  • Friends, roommates and classmates might also be another resource for tickets.
  • A classified ad may be placed on the Cortland Web site to communicate ticket needs. The ad can be placed at www.cortland.edu/classifieds.

Tickets for Students Not on Campus

Students not on campus during the spring semester due to student teaching, study abroad, internships or other circumstances, may obtain tickets by completing the Ticket, Cap and Gown form and submitting it to College Store.

The College Store will not mail tickets. Students must pick them up at the College Store prior to the Commencement ceremonies. Students unable to pick up their tickets must send someone to the College Store with a letter authorizing that person to pick them up. That person must produce a photo ID before the tickets are released.

Students unable to designate someone to pick up tickets prior to the ceremony should contact the College Store to place the order on hold. The College Store offers extended business hours to accommodate students who need to pick up their tickets the day of the ceremony.
