Fall 2016 -
March 2017

1. Meet with your advisor to verify eligibility for graduation.

2. Apply to graduate using myRedDragon.

Once at myRedDragon, do the following:

  1. Type in ID and password
  2. Select “Student" tab and go to the Registrar column
  3. Select “Degree Conferral and Commencement”
  4. Select “Apply for Degree Conferral”

February 2017

Students who have not yet applied for a degree on myRedDragon should do so by March 1st and follow the instructions above. Applying for a degree by March 1 allows a student's name to appear in the Commencement program.

February 2017

Students will receive an email to their Cortland email address about the online ticketing process where they will select their ceremony time and purchase all items needed for Graduation. Students will select their ceremony online beginning March 21, 2017

Items to consider purchasing:

  • Cap and gown
  • Class ring
  • Diploma cover ($11.50) (Will be purchased online through the online ticketing process and linked to your Student Line-Up Ticket)
  • Diploma frame
  • Personalized graduation announcements
  • Flowers
  • Alumni memorabilia

March 2017

Students who have missed the March 1st deadline can still apply for graduation, but must do so as soon as possible. Students will select their ceremony time online beginning March 21, 2017.  

Please remember, students who apply for their degree and/or indicate participation in Commencement after the March  deadline will NOT appear in the printed ceremony program.

April - May 2017

1. Check email account, myRedDragon announcements and the Commencement website frequently for the latest Commencement news.

2. Clear up any outstanding obligations (holds) with the College, such as Library fees, parking tickets, etc. A diploma can not be issued unless all obligations are cleared.

May 8 - 12, 2017

Students who miss the filing deadline to register for Commencement must apply on myRedDragon and contact the Special Events Office to receive their tickets.  

Students who apply for their degree and/or indicate participation in Commencement after the March 1 deadline will NOT appear in the printed ceremony program.

May 12, 2016

1. Attend rehearsal (2:30 p.m.) in the Park Center Alumni Arena. Instructions for the day of the ceremony, including line-up procedures, will be provided. All candidates for graduation are encouraged to attend. Rehearsal will last approximately 30 minutes.

2. If applicable, pick up honors tassels at the Registrar's Office prior to date of graduation- specific instructions will be provided to those who qualify by the Registrar's Office.

May 12 and 13, 2017

May 12- Graduates attending Graduate Ceremony report at 6 p.m. wearing gowns.

May 13- Undergraduates attending Ceremony 1 report at 8:30 a.m. wearing gowns. Undergraduates attending Ceremony 2 report at 1:30 p.m. wearing gowns. Undergraduates attending Ceremony 3 report at 6 p.m. wearing gowns.
