Jeffrey J. Walkuski is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physical Education and has been at SUNY Cortland since 1999.  Prior to coming to Cortland, he taught at the National Institute of Education, School of Physical Education in Singapore.   Dr. Walkuski teaches a variety of courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels including motor development, fitness pedagogy and curriculum for school-aged children, basics of effective instruction in physical education and aquatics.  He is a Physical Best Instructor Trainer, a Fitness for Life Instructor Trainer and a Bigger Faster Stronger certified strength and conditioning coach. Dr. Walkuski is a member of the International Relations Committee of AAHPERD and is a member of the Council for Conventions for the Eastern District of AAHPERD. Dr. Walkuski is involved heavily in student professional development at the national, state and local levels.  At the national level, he has been a staff member, member of the organizing committee and presenter for the American Alliance of Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance (AAHPERD) National Student Leadership Conferences held seven times over the past ten years and served as a member and chair of the Student Services Committee of AAHPERD.   He served as the advisor to the future professional section of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance from 2000 to 2003.  He currently serves as the advisor of the Alliance of Physical Education Majors at SUNY Cortland.  He enjoys working with students and feels that one of the major responsibilities of faculty is to mentor future professionals to commit to passion, professionalism and love for their chosen field of study.

He received the Amazing Person Award for the Higher Education/Professional Preparation Section of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance in 2008 and the Amazing Person Award for the Future Professionals Section of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation and Dance in 2004. In addition, the Student Government Association of SUNY Cortland named him as the Outstanding Faculty Member for the 2006-2007 academic year.
