PED 356 - Adapted Physical Education and Sport
Seeks to provide students with the theoretical and practical knowledge to plan and implement appropriate physical education programs for students with disabilities in integrated settings. Emphasizes the adaptation of physical education to needs of children with physical, intellectual, emotional or sensory disabilities. Strategies for program planning and implementation include writing IEPs, activity/equipment adaptation and techniques of teaching.
Prerequisites: PED 201 (minimum grade of C-); EDU 255 (minimum grade of C-); EDU 256 (minimum grade of C-); successful completion of EDU 256, field experience/presentation to faculty; successful completion of CAR and SAVE workshops; and a cumulative gr (3 cr. hr.)
