Justin Lovich

Dr. Justin Lovich is an Assistant Professor at the State University of New York, College at Cortland, where he teaches courses in sport ethics, law, and international sport. He is also the Coordinator of International Studies for the Sport Management Department. He earned a Ph.D. in Sport Management at Florida State University, where he was a Doctoral Fellow in the Center for Sport, Health & Equitable Development. Dr. Lovich also has a J.D. from Duquesne University School of Law and B.A. from the University of North Carolina Wilmington. His research focus includes sport law, ethics, and international governance, with particular emphasis on punishment and justice in sport. He has published research in various academic journals and presented research national and international academic conferences, including those hosted by the North American Society for Sport Management, North American Society for the Sociology of Sport, International Congress of Qualitative Inquiry, and Sport & Recreation Law Association, where he has served on the Board of Trustees. Dr. Lovich also took part in the TMC ASSER Institute Summer Program on International Sport Law, an intensive study on European and international football (soccer) law. Before his return to academia, he worked as a licensed attorney in Pennsylvania. While at UNC Wilmington, he was a member of the Seahawks’ Track & Field and Cross Country teams, and he has experience in various capacities in intercollegiate athletics.
