The American musical theatre minor creates the opportunity for students to approach the art form from an integrated perspective. The program is designed to provide a quality experience in musical theatre in a liberal arts context. The Performing Arts Department produces a main stage musical each semester in addition to cabaret showcases and recitals that feature musical theatre repertoire.

Required Courses: 21 credit hours
  • Any two dance (DNC) classes
  • MUS 111 - Introduction to Music Theory (3 cr. hr.)
  • MUS 184 - Voice Class I (2 cr. hr.) or
  • MUS 185 - Voice Class II (2 cr. hr.)
  • MUS 240 - Choral Union (1 cr. hr.) or
  • MUS 249 - College Singers (1 cr. hr.)
  • THT 100 - Introduction To Theatre Arts (3 cr. hr.)
  • THT 120 - Acting I (3 cr. hr.)
  • THT 361 - Musical Theatre in American Culture (3 cr. hr.)
  • THT 399 - Participation in Theatre (.5 cr. hr.) (two semesters required)
