Eligibility for student teaching: 2.5 overall grade point average; 2.7 grade point average in course work in both majors, French and Spanish; 2.5 grade point average in professional education course work; completion of 24 credit hours in the major; passing score on LAST; score of Intermediate High or better on Oral Proficiency Interview. Grade point averages are figured with all major and/or professional courses taken to date, even if not required prior to student teaching.

This program leads to a B.A. degree. Ninety liberal arts and sciences (LASR) credit hours are required. These credit hours are earned in the content core courses (63 cr. hr.) and in the General Education courses most of which are LASR courses.
Additional possibility for K-6 ExtensionAn additional course, ICC 324: Foreign Languages for the Elementary School, is available to majors in this program. Successful completion of this course will enable graduates to apply separately to the State Education Department (SED) for the K-6 foreign language extension. Students would then be certified to teach French and Spanish (K-12). This course has been included in the sample four-year course of study, but the credit hours are not included in the range given for the dual major.
