Loop: connecting to the beginning focuses on animation and the looping sequence through a variety of art forms. Featured artists include Eric Dyer, Juan Fontanive, Laura Heit, Ondrej Janek, and Anna Vasof. Their works explore a wide range of media and technical approaches that demonstrate high- and low-tech versions of the moving image. These contemporary works are juxtaposed with photographs by Harold E. Edgerton and Eadweard J. Muybridge to provide historical context for this study of motion.
Opening reception and artist talk: December 5, 5-6:30 p.m.
Incited is a large-scale, multimedia installation featuring digitally modified security X-rays taken by European border patrol forces of vehicles carrying hidden illegal immigrants in their cargo. This exhibition focuses on the acute problems of human trafficking, smuggling, and terrorism currently dominating the socio-political sphere. The unobstructed views of trucks, vans, and cars harboring stowaways also offer insight into privacy issues and the fragility of the human body.
An interactive musical performance: October 26, 7-8 p.m.
Reverence is a duo exhibition featuring photographs, participatory installations, and audio, video and projection pieces by Ben Altman and Robert Knight.
