 ACE SUMMER Workshops: Basic Descriptions of Present & Past Summer Workshops

                                                 ~ HALF - DAY SESSIONS

COLLEGE IS IN YOUR FUTURE For all Students in 8th-9th Only 
(Two sessions each summer to choose from)
This half-day morning session offers students an opportunity to learn more about the ACE program, meet students from other schools, and begin the process of gaining power over their future. Explore career options, play some fun, interactive, learning games and enjoy a relaxing lunch all while goal planning, with an eye on college.

SAT/ACT Combo Test For students in 10th-12th Only
This workshop is 3.hr. and 50mins. long. The Combo Practice Test helps students decide which test is right for them. Students receive feedback comparing their performance on each of the analogous test sections of the two exams—for example, SAT math section vs. ACT math section. This is a perfect opportunity to experience both tests. Students will be registered with Kaplan and may check their results on-line.

PSAT Full-Length- 2.5 hrs. For students in 10th-12th Only
A fully-proctored practice PSAT will show students what to expect in a test-like environment. Students will receive a comprehensive analysis of their performance, detailing individual strengths and weaknesses.

Full-Length Practice Test- 4 hrs. For students in 10th-12th Only

EXPLORING CHOICES FOR FUTURE CAREERS
For Students In 10th-12th Only
An introduction to the lifelong learning process of career planning. Smash stereotypes about careers and gain an understanding of career choices, and the skills and education needed to pursue them. You will use various career resources in this fun, educational and interactive half-day program.

GET THE SUCCESS FACTOR
For Students In 10th-12th Only
What’s that special “something” that makes for star-quality transition from high school to college?!   This interactive session will mentor 10th-12th graders to a deeper understanding of what to expect in terms of classes, teachers, studying, tests, grades, and even personal freedom.

For Students In 9th-12th
Where to go to college is a big decision, one of the most important a young  person makes. Get the most out of your college visit. Learn tips on how to prepare and what questions to ask from this experienced parent/student duo.

For Students In 8th-10th
Students will engage in a variety of enjoyable activities to enhance their study skills and learning success. Topics are: self-awareness; learning styles; time management; ways to organize ideas/notes, and test taking strategies.

*WRITING PROCESS
For Students In 8th -10th
Students will develop and enhance their writing skills through a variety of interesting activities. Utilizing computers, they will also produce a published collection of writings. Students will be expected to write daily and share their work.
