About CEPS

Our vision is to see the conjoining of academic research in ethics, peace and social justice issues with activism for change.

To further this aim, we will organize conferences and colloquia to explore relevant issues. In 2006, (in conjunction with the Central New York peace Studies Consortium) we held a conference looking at the language of violence. In 2007, a conference looking at environmental justice and peacemaking.

We house visiting scholars, both from SUNY Cortland and from the wider community, to work at an area of ethics within their field or profession.

We host an annual Summer Ethics Institute to help faculty gain competence in discussing critical ethical issues with students across a range of academic disciplines.

To disseminate the work of the Center we have a number of publishing initiatives: a series in Social Philosophy with VIBS, Editions Rodopi, B.V., and an international acclaimed journal Wagadu: At Transnational Journal in Gender and Women's Studies
