Make a joyful noise to the Lord all the earth;
break into song; sing praise.
Sing praise to the Lord with the harp,
with the harp and melodious song.
With trumpets and the sound of the horn
shout with joy to the King, the Lord. Ps. 98, 4-6
Music is an important and inspiring part of our worship. O'Heron Newman Catholic Chapel is always looking for additional students to lead the singing or play an instrument at our masses. Student music ministers gather to rehearse an hour before mass time. When possible, they participate in a mid week practice as well.
Greeters focus on the presence of Christ in the liturgical assembly as they welcome worshipers at the door. This ministry is truly one of hospitality. Greeters follow the example of jesus, transforming strangers into welcome guests. Students who would like to serve as greeters should contact Marie Agen to schedule a short training session and explanation of the Guidelines for Greeters.
Lectors proclaim the Word of God at liturgy. Through them God speaks to us today. SUNY Cortland students are encouraged to be trained and serve as lectors at O'Heron Newman Catholic Chapel. The duties of lectors are contained in the Guidelines for Lectors. To make an appointment to be trained for this ministry, contact Marie Agen.
Ministers of Communion
