In Girish Bhat’s classroom, there are no back seats. From the moment the award-winning associate professor enters the doorway, he magnetizes his Cortland students into a robust intellectual exchange that both challenges and rewards all of them.
Tapping into his extensive Russian and European history research funded in part by College grants, Girish seamlessly blends lessons on art and music. He uses photos drawn from both fine arts and popular culture to engulf his students in the era under study. They learn history but also the importance of research, which they share during Transformations: A Student Research and Creativity Conference.
At SUNY Cortland, well-prepared faculty members are bringing the best out of their students by striving to be the best they can be themselves.
