Given the challenges facing our nation’s educational system, the need for well-prepared administrators has never been more pressing. Legendary Cortland Normal School Principal Francis J. Cheney was one of the best in his day.
His granddaughter, Louise M. Conley, has preserved his legacy and commitment to educational ideals by funding both conferences and scholarships at Cortland.
Now, Louise has taken a bold step with a $1 million bequest that establishes the College’s first endowed academic chair. She designated that the position be in the Educational Leadership Department.
Effective leaders learn from the experiences of others. At Cortland, tomorrow’s educational decision makers will gain best practices knowledge from one of today’s top practitioners, thanks to Louise.
