A Vision Rooted in Tradition
The Campaign for Cortland is a bold initiative to raise $25 million to support strategic institutional goals designed to enhance the life of every Cortland student and to elevate the College’s national profile. Equally important, the campaign aims to raise scholarship dollars for first-generation Americans, first-generation college students, meritorious students and those with financial need.
College leaders foresee a Cortland campus that, by decade’s end, will be the first choice for outstanding students and faculty in its nationally recognized academic programs. An infusion of innovation and experiential education and a rich intellectual, social and athletic life will draw these gifted and diverse individuals to SUNY Cortland. Meanwhile, emerging partnerships will cement the College’s regional importance.
SUNY Cortland has made significant strides since its origin as the Cortland Normal School. Today, the dynamic campus of 7,200 students is selected annually as one of Kiplinger’s Top 100 Best Values Among America’s Public Colleges and Universities based on its combination of academic excellence and affordability. In 2011, Cortland students typically scored 1,110 on the SAT and achieved a 90.3 average in high school. True to its roots, Cortland remains the largest nationally accredited teacher education program in New York state.
Together We Can Make a Difference
Our ever-changing world needs engaged, creative and enlightened individuals able to meet its unforeseen challenges. SUNY Cortland, which has never been content with the status quo, has unveiled its 10-year plan to educate those leaders whose service and commitment will transform lives. The campaign will make that vision a reality. In essence, providing the knowledge and cultivating the passion to help others is the oldest of Cortland traditions, the cornerstone of the Cortland experience and the impetus for Educating Champions: The Campaign for Cortland.
