Alumni Affairs Office
The Alumni Affairs Office serves as the College's liaison to the SUNY Cortland Alumni Association, Inc. The Alumni Association serves the campus community and involve its more than 58,000 alumni in the life of the College through a variety of special programs and communication media. Be sure to visit the Alumni Association Web page for more information about our programs.
The staff meets five times a year with an Alumni Board of Directors. Staff members coordinate an annual calendar of events that includes special reunions and receptions, events for 12 alumni chapters throughout the United States and other regional activities.
The Alumni Affairs Office works with other campus departments to coordinate events in which alumni participate such as the admissions program, career services opportunities, fund raising, lectures, and awards and scholarships for students.
The Alumni Association publishes Columns, a newspaper that is mailed to alumni four times annually. Alumni Office personnel contribute to its content and production.
Another vital communication tool with alumni is the Web page and e-mail directory, designed and maintained by office staff. Quinquennially, we publish and sell an alumni directory. A variety of affinity services are offered to alumni, including credit card, retail and insurance programs.
Alumni Mailing Labels
Campus departments wishing to request alumni mailing labels or printouts must submit a written request and copy of materials to be mailed for approval by the executive director. The alumni database, Raiser's Edge, is an independently networked system and is maintained by office staff. Turnaround time for printouts and labels is generally within five working days of approval.
Alumni Reunion Weekend
In July, close to 800 alumni and friends return for the annual Alumni Reunion Weekend. This event highlights classes celebrating their tenth, 15th, 20th, 25th, 30th, 35th, 40th, 45th, 50th, 55th and 60th year reunions as well as our Half Century Club.
Student Alumni Association
Alumni Affairs, with the Student Government Association (SGA), sponsors the Student Alumni Association (SAA). SAA diplomats are student leaders who assist with major campus events, plan special programs and participate in national SAA conferences and district meetings. SAA helps to promote the Alumni Association and its many activities and programs.
