Antlers Workshops Offered to Alumni


SUNY Cortland alumni and their guests will have the opportunity this fall to learn more about watercolor painting and fly fishing. And as a bonus, they’ll have the opportunity to do so immersed in nature at Raquette Lake. Spots are limited in the four-day September workshops, so register today.

Couple’s Flame Reignites at Half-Century Reunion

College sweethearts Sharon “Shay” Geary Rumsey ’58 and John Zanetti ’58 went their separate ways when they graduated in 1958, only to reconnect and rekindle their flame at Alumni Reunion a half-century later. Still together, they’ll celebrate their 55th Reunion in 2013.

New Academic Year Brings New Alumni Offerings
While our students are enjoying a well-deserved summer vacation, the Alumni Affairs Office will be hard at work behind-the-scenes, developing an innovative online initiative. The new offerings will include a searchable alumni directory, online class notes, photo galleries, programs to connect with students directly and much more. We thank you for your patience the next few months as we transition to this exciting service.

Belize’s Mysterious Pottery Engages Artists, Scholars

This summer, junior BFA major Giotto Zampogna traveled to a small Belize village, where he joined a group of indigenous women at the nexus of archeology, art and embryonic cottage industry. A series of SUNY Cortland class cohorts, their faculty mentors and the San Antonio Women’s Group are trying to recreate ancient Mayan pottery techniques lost in recent generations in this tiny Central American country.

A First Salute 20 Years in the Making  

Besides receiving their diplomas Commencement weekend, two SUNY Cortland seniors earned designations as second lieutenants in the U.S. Army. It marked the first time since 1993 that the College hosted a commissioning ceremony for Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) graduates.

Training Camp Marriage Means More than X’s and O’s  

This summer, for the fourth time in five years, the New York Jets will land on campus for preseason training camp. As they have since 2009, SUNY Cortland officials will work behind the scenes to deliver the type of experience that the organization, the local community and alumni have come to expect.
