Reunion 2012:
Classes of 1942, 1947, 1952, 1957, 1962, 1967, 1972, 1977, 1982 and 1987 will celebrate milestone reunions. Alpha Sigma Alpha/Alpha Sigma will be the featured sorority and Gamma Phi Eta/Gamma Sigma/Gamma Tau Sigma will be the featured fraternity. As always, all members of the Half Century Club (Class of 1962 and earlier) will receive invitations. All alumni are welcome at Reunion.

Alumni Association Names Three Distinguished Alumni

The College’s Alumni Association will present its most prestigious honor, the Distinguished Alumni Award, to three graduates during the 2012 Alumni Reunion Weekend. The Distinguished Alumni Award recipients are Lawrence W. Fielding ’66 and James T. Costa ’85, who is pictured at left. The Distinguished Young Alumnus is Michael C. Draper ’03.

Class of 2012 Joins Alumni Family

More than 1,600 students received graduate and undergraduate degrees from SUNY Cortland on May 11 and 12, joining the ranks of more than 68,000 College alumni. Undergraduate students celebrated one of their final days on campus at the Lynne Parks ’68 SUNY Cortland Alumni House for Senior Send-Off, an event organized by the Alumni Affairs Office and the Student Alumni Association.

The Cortland Fund Seeks Young Alumni for Focus Groups

The Cortland Fund, the College fundraising arm that seeks financial gifts for educational programs, is looking for young alumni to participate in two focus groups. The first will take place online at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, June 19. The second will be at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, June 20, on the College campus or via teleconference.

Educating a Champion: Dana Korman

She’s just finished her first year of college and this Chappaqua, N.Y., native already has taken on an internship, emerged as a key contributor to Cortland’s Taekwondo team and excelled academically. Those are just some of the reasons she won a Peter F. Eisenhardt ’67 Award for Excellence this spring to mark her progress in a learning community.

Faculty and Staff Chancellor’s Award Winners Named

Four faculty and staff members were honored with State University of New York Chancellor’s Awards for Excellence during Undergraduate Commencement on May 12. Honorees included: Jeffrey J. Walkuski, associate professor of physical education; Melony Warwick, pictured at left, secretary II in the Division of Institutional Advancement; Julian H. Wright, director of recreational sports; and Tiantian Zheng, professor of sociology/anthropology.

Women’s Lacrosse Tailgate Added for Saturday

The women’s lacrosse team is tearing through NCAA Tournament play, and the Alumni Association is planning weekend tailgates to reward the team and its fans. A pre-game tailgate party will take place at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, in Employee Lot 7, adjacent to Sprague Field at Montclair State University in Montclair, N.J., before the second-ranked Red Dragons take on fifth-ranked Trinity College. A Sunday tailgate will be held if the team advances.

Track Your Red Dragons During Postseason Play


SUNY Cortland’s powerhouse athletics program again flexed its muscles this spring, capturing five SUNYAC titles and sending six teams to postseason play. Recap the spring sports season and stay current with the College’s baseball and lacrosse teams and its track and field athletes who are still competing by visiting, the official site of Cortland athletics.
